How do you fight mice without cats?

We have a terrible problem with mice in our home and we don't know what to do. They mice have grown smart and know how to avoid fly paper when we set it out. However, we hesitate to use rat poison for the same reason that we can't get a cat: We have three dogs, a large Rottweiler and two mixed Daschunds. We're afraid they may stumble upon the rat poison and inadvertently ingest it themselves. But also, we know that they will not take kindly to having to share residence with a cat.

It also doesn't help that we live in a neighborhood with poor zoning: there's a bakery right next door (the size of the rats it attracts is frightening) and other eateries all along the road behind our house.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything will be appreciated. How do you fight mice without cats?
you said that you have fly paper ryt?

what you do is put sugar or some kind of food that rats like.

before we also had a problem with mice but we put sugar on the fly paper and in just about two weeks we caught all our mice. so maybe you should also try because i believe that mice like sweet foods. How do you fight mice without cats?
Mouse traps work really well.

Escpecially when you put cheese or peanut butter on them!

I hope I helped!
if you put the dogs in a seprit room for a few days and lay the poisen in some food that could help.take note keep trace of were you put it for you dogs safty. if there is a place were the mice like to go the most i would put the pioson there. a safer way is to get these mice beeper things you plug in the wall.

I have a farm and these little mouse traps cleaned up around here big time. I swear by them.
Use mouse traps with peanut butter and bread on them. Put them behind furniture and stoves and under the sink where the animals won't get to them. Also check for any holes where the mice come in from outside or wherever. Seal these up so they can't get in.
Check your home first for areas of entry. Seal them off best as possible. They make mice motels, like the roach ones. The poison stays inside. Sadly enough your location is causing your problem, best bet aswell is to inform them of your problem. So they can take precautionary measures to resolve this problem.
OK, you have pets so decon is out of the question. Decon is warfrin. It thins the blood and will kill your dogs.

We have found sticky baits with a pecan, or peanut butter works the best. We have chihuahuas and dogs love to chomp on mice, I know ...Yuk!
