I know I need to plug up any holes I find. Will that expanding foam insulation stuff that comes in a can work? Or will they just chew through that too? Any suggestions appreciated.I need to get rid of the mice in my house?

well that can of foam will just be food to them.....i would have to say just put mice traps down(snap traps or sticky traps)to catch them from coming out...or just close up those holes with some strong wood....if none of that works call a exterminator
