Mice??????

I was wondering what supplies do you need to take care of two female mice?Mice??????
You will need a a nice cage, the larger the better but not so large that your mice can slip out between the bars. If you can find one with several levels, that would be great. You will need some sort of litter to cover the bottom - aspen shavings are supposed to be the best. Don't use pine or cedar shavings. If the other levels have wire floors, I used to fold up old t-shirts and use those for flooring so the mice wouldn't have to be on a wire grid all the time. It goes without saying that the bottom level in your mouse cage should not be a wire floor.

Mice like to have a wheel to run on and if you have two mice and a big enough cage, you can get two wheels - they'll love you for it. I personally prefer wire wheels, but what ever kind you get, it will need to be cleaned every time you clean the cage, which is usually once a week. So you will need paper towels and maybe a brush or two.

Mice need regular rat or mouse food. Don't get hamster food - the protein content is too high for mice. You might want to get a food dish for food because that way you'll be able to tell exactly how much your mice are eating. I usually give them a tad more than they'll eat in a day and then toss out the excess to the birds when I feed the mice again the next day.

As to water, you might want to get a small, untippable water dish to put in their cage and also a water bottle. Water bottles are notorious for dripping and sometimes they drip all their water out, so I always used a dish for a backup. You can place the food dish and the water dish in the same corner with the water bottle, but try to keep their nest well away from the water. That way if the bottle leaks or the water dish spills, their nest doesn't get wet.

The best nest you can give your little mice might be a cheap cardboard recipe box. If you cut a hole in the side, they''ll enter through that but when you want to catch them, you can just pick the whole box up and open the top to get them. I always shred newspaper for my mice and put it in the cage - then they would carry it into their box and make a nest. Most newspapers these days use a non-smearing ink, but if you think your newspaper doesn't do that, you can also shred non-printed paper towels or non-scented kleenex.

You can buy grass hay and put a handful in the cage for your mice as a special treat - just make sure you put the whole bag in your freezer for 24 hours first to kill any mites that might be on the hay. You can also put some tinker toys together and and make a tinker toy bridge. If you have a second level in your mouse cage, you can tie a shoelace to it so the mice can climb up and down. Paper towel tubes are awesome toys for mice too and there are lots of little blocks and houses for mice at the pet store to buy, as well as special treats, so save some of your money for those as well.Mice??????
kitty litter is really good for covering the bottom of the cage,

a wheel , put some tissues in sometimes so they can build their bed but clean their bed out alot cos it gets dirty, mouse food from pet shop, solid non-spill water bowl or bottle, pretty big cage so they can run around, then put in random stuff to keep them entertained but nothing dangerous like bits of cardboard they can rip up, toilet rolls, anything they can build a nest withTHEY LOVE BUILDING NESTS!!

and they like chewing a lot
non wood bedding, food(yogert drops and dry fruit 4 treats) a water bottle and a SILENT wheel. oh a cage would be good, too. :-]]]]
