How can i prevent my cats from bringing dead mice into the house?

We just moved to the country, so the cats are going crazy catching mice. I can't stand finding them lying throughout the house. I have a 1 year old and am very nervous that he'll find the mice before me!How can i prevent my cats from bringing dead mice into the house?
If the cats are going outside and bringing mice inside, you might want to consider making them indoor only cats. Since you have a 1 year old, its not safe to allow the cats to roam outside and then come inside around the baby. Cats get parasites and worms from mice. How can i prevent my cats from bringing dead mice into the house?
Well, I don't think you are going to be able to do this if you don't restrict the cat's access to the house. Are you sure the mice aren't inside already? All it takes is a tiny crack for them to squeeze through. Those cats may be clearing out the indoor population!

I've had cats all my life. They hunt by nature and they bring you ';presents'; to ';mother'; you. They are trying to keep you healthy by bringing you good things to eat.

So, until they get the mouse population under control they will be catching them up. The winter may help bring it to a halt.

You will just have to keep an eye on the cats when they come in the house. Good Luck!
don't let your cat go outside your house so that it can not bring dead mice inside your house. [lock it up, =%26gt; joke]. [or may be thier are some mice in your house.] get a pest control.
keep your cats inside!!!!!!
Well actually you should know that cats bring the mice as a present to you. They only do that if they love you a lot and they get confused when you are not acting happy once you find them!LOL.I think that there isn't much you can do about it,maybe if you throw them away every time and say no to them as soon as you find one while holding it in front of them they will get the message but still I wouldn't count on it.

Just be on the lookout whenever you see a cat coming towards the house.
Awww, the kitty love you! =) I know how you feel, guess you should either make him an indoor or an outdoor cat, or get rid of him.
give it a spank
try to keep your cat indoors for some months and train it on how eat only good foods and not dead mice,i hate them too.
I'm not real big on cats but they usually do this to bring you a gift and/or they think they are providing food for you since you take care of them. Cats are kind of weird sometimes. I had a tom cat once that took my daughters fuzzy stuffed TY beany baby kitten off her bed and hid under the bed protecting it for days until it finally decided it was a dead kitten I guess and abandoned it. weird. I would look for a book on cat behavior to see if there's someway to get it to stop bringing you offerings. :)
when she does that, kick her in her butt...
The cats are bringing you the mice as a gift.I'm sure a gift you'd rather do without.Give them praise for their gift but leave the cats outside. It doesn't hurt them to stay outside, you're teaching them their boundaries.
if you have that many mice in your house you might want to call an exterminator.
Get rid of the cat! Get rid of the cat flap! Move house and leave the cat behind!
Uuuuhhh, how are they getting INTO the house with the deads???? Close the cat door, or however they are getting into the house!!!! That is gross. They will not stop bringing them home, but they need to keep them OUTside!!!!!!!!
Call an exterminator, explain you have a mouse problem. Get RID of the cat and welcome to living in the country. You will have mice. It's just one of the joys of living in the county.

OH, just a bit of info. I have dogs and live in the country, have for 30+ years and I've had very few mice. My neighbours have 2 cats, both Maine Coons, and they are over run with mice.

Makes me wonder.
Search them when they come in.
The cat is trying to impress you. You should be proud of the cat. Praise it and pet it. Then give the mouse back to the cat. Then take them both outside.

A few trips of this and the cat will start keeping the mice outside.
kill the cat
If they're bringing dead mice into the house, make sure there's no way they can get in unless you let them in. The cats will still catch mice, but you can train them to leave them at the door. Cats are hunters by instinct, so you shouldn't scold them for catching mice. The best way to handle it is to praise them (yes, you heard me right) when they come to the door with mice and take the mice away from them before you let them in the house. Eventually, the cats will learn to simply drop them at the door.
its a gift from your kitty, dont throw it away infront of the cat of it will feel like he has done wrong in someway, its a natural act for cats to hunt rodents
Cats bring you mice because they want to ';give'; you something back! it is sort of pride and love.

I am not sure how to stop them, but as the mice population thins this will happen less often. I grew up with cats on a small farm and know that is what cats do!

You might have them bring the mice to a certain place and reward them by petting and praise for dropping them at one place.
