Sure but remember the cost for cats. Are cats an effective way to deter mice and or Rats?
Cats can be a great deterrent. Just make sure there is no poison left on your property or remains of poisoned rodents. But make sure you really want a cat. They need vet care, good food, shelter and a loving home.
A person across my road gets rats and she has a yourkshire terrier. I have a cat and the rats don't come near my house because rats and mice know their enemies and can smell a cat like they do in the wild.
Cats absolutely can, but please only get one if you're going to care for it properly. If your mice are poisoned and your cat eats one, your cat gets poisoned too. There is also a myth that a well fed cat won't hunt for mice and that is absolutely not true. Feed your cat well. Most cats hunt because of instinct, not need. Cats are wonderful companions that should be spayed or neutered and treated like a member of the family. There are also some dogs bred to hunt rodents. Rat Terriers for instance.
They are just field mice coming in for the winter, Just try to secure all food sources like dog food and they will leave
