How do you prevent mice from boarding a ship?

Doing a school project and know how to exclude them from a home but not a ship. Can anyone help? How do you prevent mice from boarding a ship?
Todays ships, when in foreign ports, use ';rat guards';. They are covers that go around the berthing lines. (ropes holding the ship to the berth/ shore/ dock) They look like the top of a bottle that's been cut off and made of metal so the rat can't climb up the rope or over the guard because of the angle of the metal. Then it's just a matter of keeping them from coming across the gangway! If you do a yahoo images search for 'rat guard' there are a few versions you can see...How do you prevent mice from boarding a ship?
appoint a kitty as a boarding crew.
its the silliest of solutions- but its a grandma affiliated one lol

all u gotta do is overnight, sprinkle all d floors with salt- mice arent so fond of salt n wen they lick salt-covered paws, they immediately feel nauseous.

2ndly, cover all d hols in d ship- if its a way 2 big ship like titanic, then i suppose, spraying droplets of any salt solution vapour in all the lower rooms n whitewashing all upper rooms.

In d engines only one thing can b done- killing them. because salt poses a major threat 2 d engines n its too stuffy 2 spray any pesticide. so use poisoned bread or something.

consider calling d pied piper- not a joke, but a fact. Mice are sensitive 2 loud music (proof is- thr are no mice in my room).

gud luck
