How long do mice babies need to be with their mother?

My brothers mice just had babies. ( Even though the pet store said they were both male!). How long do the baby mice have to stay with their mothers before we can do something with them? How long do mice babies need to be with their mother?
They can be taken away from the mom around 3-4 weeks of age. If the mother and father were not separated BEFORE the litter was born, she may actually be pregnant again, and will give birth 3 weeks after her first litter. Make sure to separate all pups into male and female groups before 6 weeks of age, or they will ALL breed with each other!! Each mom can have a dozen pups, so you do the math. That's a lot of pups in a very short amount of time. Males have a larger ano-genital space (space between the genitals and anus) and females have a much shorter one. If you hold the pups up by the tail, supporting the body with your other hand, you can look under the tail and compare males from females. Also, around 10 days of age, when they all have a good amount of fur, you can see that the females will have 2 rows of 6 nipples (12 total). This is a bit more easy to sex them than ano-genital distance, as males do not have any nipples! Good luck to you!!How long do mice babies need to be with their mother?
Usually 21 days.

I hope you seperated them!! Mice will have a litter of pups every 21 days!
You will see them start to eat by themselves and have their eyes open. When they are doing both, they are ready to leave mom.

Determining the sex of mice is accomplished by comparing the distance between the anal opening and genital papilla (anogenital distance). This distance is shorter in females and greater in males. Determining the sex of very young mice may be difficult for the beginner, and it is often helpful to compare a number of littermates.

Obviously, if a mouse had babies, its a female...the other is probably your male unless she was pregnant when you got her.

Usually around 3 weeks. Be ready for the babies to have babies, and a never-ending flood of baby mice, LOL.
about five weeks. they won't be weaned until then but make suure that you seperate them at that point so that you don't wind up with litters from the females.
